Where safety is the standard, not the afterthought.
Health and safety is not a bolt-on at BUCO — it is embedded in how we plan, price, and deliver every job. From initial site investigation through to practical completion, our teams work to pre-agreed Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs), Task Analyses, and Safe Work Method Statements aligned with the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and the New Zealand Building Code.
Our independently audited accreditations give our clients, principals, and insurers confidence that BUCO meets — and holds itself accountable to — the standards expected of a modern construction contractor.
Our accreditations
At BUCO, safety isn't a policy on a shelf. It's how we plan, price, and deliver every project. From remedial investigations to full commercial builds, our systems are independently audited, our people are trained and ticketed, and every person on site is accountable for getting the job done safely.
Our Safety-First Approach
Safety isn't paperwork we pull out for audits — it's built into how we plan, price, and run every project. Before a single tool comes out, we've already walked the site, identified the hazards, and written a Site-Specific Safety Plan tailored to the job. Every worker knows the risks, the controls, and who to raise concerns with, because safety only works when everyone on site owns it.
Systems That Stand Up to Scrutiny
Commercial clients, principals, and insurers don't want promises — they want evidence. BUCO operates under independently audited H&S prequalification through SiteWise, Site Safe, and Totika, with all high-risk work backed by documented Task Analyses and Safe Work Method Statements. Incidents, near-misses, and hazards are logged and reviewed through Simpro, giving a live, traceable record for every project we delive
Trained, Ticketed, and Accountable
Every BUCO site worker holds a current Site Safe Passport, and our carpentry work is supervised by Licensed Building Practitioners. First aid–certified personnel are on site, and our team undertakes ongoing toolbox training, CPD, and refresher tickets for working at height, asbestos awareness, and hazardous substance handling. Subcontractors are prequalified before they set foot on a BUCO job — no exceptions.
Everyone Goes Home Safe
The measure of a good construction business isn't the buildings it leaves behind — it's the people who walk off site at the end of the day. BUCO operates a zero-tolerance stance on unsafe behaviour, from directors through to first-year apprentices. If something isn't right, work stops until it is. That's a commitment from Liam and Colin, and it's non-negotiable on every BUCO project.
