BUCO started in 2020 with Liam Hesp, Colin Potgieter and a van. Five years on, we're a team of nearly 70 — licensed builders, site managers, estimators, foremen, admin and specialist subcontractors, working across residential, commercial, insurance, remedial and maintenance projects throughout the Bay of Plenty.

The people behind the company are the reason it works. Liam and Colin are hands-on directors who are still on the tools and on sites every week, not behind a desk. Our site managers own their projects from day one. Our estimators price straight. Our office team pick up the phone. It's a culture we've built deliberately, one person at a time — and it's the reason our clients and our subcontractors keep coming back.

    Liam Hesp

    Director/Licensed Builder

    Co-founder and the driving force behind BUCO's growth from a two-man operation to a nearly-70-strong construction business in five years. Liam owns company-wide operations, client relationships, systems and health and safety, and is Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP) qualified. Most BUCO clients still deal with Liam personally — because he still wants it that way.

    Colin Potgieter

    Director/Quantity Surveyor

    Co-founder and head of BUCO's commercial team, Colin runs every major contract, cost structure and price BUCO puts in front of a client. An experienced Quantity Surveyor with over a decade in the industry, he's the reason our pricing is precise, transparent and defensible — the numbers that let clients plan, fund and deliver their projects with certainty.

    Lee Clark

    Project Manager/Commercial Manager

    Lee runs two of BUCO's five service lines — Labour Only & Sub-Contract Works and Commercial Construction. He owns scope, programme, crews and delivery across every labour-only contract, sub-contract package and commercial build we run. Main contractors, developers and commercial property owners get a GM-level driver on their project — not a site foreman with a clipboard.

    Lisa Savage

    Quantity Surveyor/Contracts Manager

    Lisa leads BUCO's day-to-day QS work across every commercial project — pricing, variations, payment claims, invoicing and cost tracking. She's the reason our commercial clients know exactly where their project sits financially every Friday, and the reason payment schedules on BUCO projects don't drift.

  • Stacey Collins

    Project Manager/Residential and Maintenance Manager

    Stacey runs three of BUCO's five service lines — Residential, Insurance Works & Remedials, and Property Maintenance. He owns site operations, trade co-ordination, quality assurance and material procurement across every residential build, re-clad, insurance repair and maintenance programme we deliver. Every residential, insurance and maintenance client gets a GM-level driver on their project, not an estimator with a spreadsheet.
