Client: Citizens Club – Oak Tree Restaurant
Location: Tauranga
Date Completed: Feb 2026
BUCO was engaged to manage and deliver the full upstairs fit-out for the Oak Tree Restaurant within the Citizens Club, with the project carefully programmed around live operations and a fixed handover timeframe.
From the outset, the project required detailed planning and coordination. Existing furniture, fittings, and equipment were carefully removed, relocated, and stored to allow works to proceed, with reinstatement managed later in the programme. This approach allowed the client to retain and reuse key items while minimising disruption and unnecessary replacement costs.
The internal works involved reconfiguring the space to suit restaurant operations, including new wall layouts, ceilings, linings, and finishes, along with close coordination of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire, and data services. Particular attention was given to sequencing trades, managing access constraints, and maintaining a safe environment within an active club setting.
Throughout the build, BUCO provided full project management — overseeing programming, daily site coordination, quality control, and client communication. Tight timeframes required works to be staged and progressed efficiently, with clear handovers between trades to keep the programme moving and ensure the restaurant was ready for commissioning and final sign-off.
The result is a functional, well-considered hospitality space that balances durability, operational flow, and atmosphere, delivered on time and ready for handover.
This project demonstrates BUCO’s strength in managing complex hospitality fit-outs within existing buildings, where attention to detail, proactive coordination, and practical problem-solving are essential to achieving a successful outcome.
